Quote of the Day

Engineering is very different from physics.

A good physicist is a man with original ideas.

A good engineer is a man who makes a design that works with as few original ideas as possible.

An engineer, a physicist and a mathematician were given a problem. Each was put into a room with a blackboard and chalk, a sink, an empty bucket and a wastepaper basket that had a fire in it. Their challenge was to find a way to put out the fire.

The engineer filled up the empty bucket with water, threw it over the fire and extinguished the fire.

The physicist calculated the exact amount of water necessary to put out the fire on the blackboard then filled up the bucket with that exact amount, threw it on the fire and put it out.

The mathematician caclulated the exact amount of water necessary to put out the fire.
The room burned down.
